In reply to Sara. Hey Sara! I found Malta to be safe and friendly for females traveling solo. I do recommend staying right in the city center and to always read reviews of where you are staying. As far as festivals I would suggest checking out malta.com they list everything that is happening : ) if you have any other questions, let me know!

Hey! I felt very safe in Malta. I stayed in Valletta and found it to be very central. There are a few tours that I recommend that are listed within the post. Especially the tour to Gozo and the Blue Lagoon!

I can’t give more detailed info on taking in Sliema. I did go over there for shopping. Personally, I would stay in Valletta and take the free 10-minute ferry over to Sliema for the beach. It’s a 7-minute walk from the port to the beach.

It was very, very hot when I was there and didn’t feel like it was good to ride the horse carriages.

I would say you could do an organized tour to Medina just because its easier to have someone else take you around.

Hi Ladies,

Any safety advice for Malta/scams to look out for?

Where is best to stay Sleima/St Julian’s. I would love a beach view.
I’m not a heavy drinker so want to avoid the party areas.

What tours would you recommend?

In terms of visiting Valetta/Medina what is there to do there? Should I travel there on my own or with a tour?

Finally how much should I pay for a horse carriage?

I visited Malta a few years ago and loved it so much! They have some of the best seafood and such gorgeous water! I would love to go back one day!

So glad you visited Trabuxu – it’s one of my favourite restaurants in Valletta for the past 15 years! I agree, Valletta especially feels safe and great for solo travel.
